Alsons Power is Mindanao’s first and most experienced independent power producer (IPP), in commercial operation since 1993. It operates 468 MW of generating capacity across four operating plants (~482.5 MW including renewables in development) — about 10% of installed Mindanao capacity (DOE, 31 March 2025) — and supplies over eight million people in 14 cities and 11 provinces in Mindanao, serving electric cooperatives, large industrial customers, and the grid.

Alsons Power is part of the Alcantara Group, founded by pioneering entrepreneur Conrado C. Alcantara, who recognized Mindanao’s vast potential in the 1950s.
Guided by his vision, Alsons Power continues to provide reliable energy that supports the island’s growth and development.
FROM 1950 to the present
Our history fuels our future.
1992
Alsons Power signed the first Build-Operate-Transfer agreement in the Philippines with the National Power Corporation for the development of Northern Mindanao Power Corporation.
1993
We made our pioneering entry into the power sector amid island-wide shortages by operating a 103 MW plant in Iligan City (now the Mapalad Power Corporation).
1997
We started operations at the Western Mindanao Power Corporation diesel plant in Zamboanga City further adding 100 MW to the local grid capacity in Mindanao.
1998
The 55 MW Southern Philippines Power Corporation (SPPC) in Alabel, Sarangani Province, was added to the grid helping supply power to the region even more.
2016
The 210 MW Sarangani Energy Corporation plant was opened to help completely end the power shortage in Mindanao. This new plant provides power to around 4 million people.

Through our Retail Electricity Supply (RES) business, our presence is growing across the Visayas and Luzon, while new developments like the Bago project in Negros Occidental and the Ubay project in Bohol extend our footprint into new parts of the country. Alsons Power is evolving from Mindanao's trusted power producer into an energy company with a broader national reach.
Our growth is built on a strong foundation. Group revenue rose 19% to ₱14.9 billion in 2025, and our presence is expanding beyond Mindanao into other parts of the country and the Asia-Pacific region. We are investing to help lead Mindanao’s energy future, not just keep up with it.
